Jessica's latest science project!

I came home from running & found my daughter had made 2 models of cells, one plant cell & one animal cell. She has all the parts memorized. She was very creative digging through our baking supplies to replicate the cells.

Her great teacher and our 2nd counselor in our bishopric, Brother Bishop. Yes that's his name & we know each other well because he's over Primary!! I've told him & embarrassed him that he will be a bishop someday & he will be "Bishop Bishop"!!

I was reminded by this pic that one of the main differences of plant & animal cells is that one-I think it's the plant-has a Cell Wall!! Jess has spelled "Endoplasmic Retilculum" multiple times for us today cuz she's in awe of herself that she can & she has all the parts of these cells memorized "forever" she says. Good use of the Halloween candy that no one will eat & we'll try to pawn off on trick-or-treaters next year! We wouldn't do that! Hmmm!!

Various Happenings before Halloween!

So Many of you know that I'm still getting the hang of this blogging thing! And for my sister-in-law Marci, I pretty much explained all that happened with the day I lost my brother Roy at the Brea Mall-almost lost! (See previous post) One thing I left out was that I'm pretty sure that was the day he got a staple stuck in his finger too. Geez-back in the day I remember stores stapling receipts to the top of the plastic bag. This incident was probably why they stopped doing it. SERIOUSLY!! He wanted what was in that Sam Goody bag so much that he managed to put that staple through half his thumb-it got bent. He SCREAMED when we tried to remove it, but he was of course wailing with pain with it in there. To this day, I can't remember if Mom had to take him to the dr. Jason would have fixed the problem & just yanked it out fast with some pliers! I wonder if Roy Boy remembers this at all. I spent a lot of time taking care of him!! OK on to the present!!
My Grandma Wanda recently had a garage sale where she made close to $1400 in 3 mornings!! Pretty impressive in this economy huh? She sold a bumch of her holiday & wedding decorations. She gave us this cute witch, which fell in transit from he house to Grandma Connie's house, to our house. We won't tell you who let it fall on her face, but she did have a tendency to lean forward. So Jessica named her "Wanda Witch" and spent 2 hours super gluing her back together. We both had our fingers stuck together for a while!!

Dont ya just love her mole & tooth!!

Jake's teachers are SO AMAZING and helped him carve his very own pumpkin! They just love him so much!
This is random, but I wanted to show y'all Jessica's latest Young Women's Value Project. It's under the value "Faith". We planted carrots, radishes, & cauliflower. Only problem was we started in late August, so we've only seen carrots. Jess was very insightful, which is one of her many talents, and said it is like when we don't always get what we want even though we have faith, but Heavenly Father knows what we need. Therefore, she said we all need to eat carrots! She also put Miracle Grow on one side & no Miracle Grow on the other. I'll get back to you on her theory on this. She explained it all in her Personal Progress book. She's a very smart girl. She's been writing her own short stories lately & coming up with fascinating science experiments with her charter school. She's very mature for a barely 13 year old!!

HALLOWEEN!!

Josh on "Crazy Hair Day" for Red Ribbon Week!
Our "Big Mamma" pumpkin we grew in our very own backyard!! Jess did great carving her all by herself. Her cool teacher Brother Bishop told us it looked like the Koolaid Man! She does! We loved watching her grow & there are actually 2 more still growing!!
Jessica's friends Riley & Dani ready to go Trick-or-Treating
Josh our "Knight Warrior"
Jessica the "Pirate Maiden" who borrowed Mom's favorite boots!

The Adventures of Jessica & Rylie Part 1

I vividly remember riding my bike EVERYWHERE when I was Jessica's age!! For those of you who know where the house I grew up in is in Fullerton & where the Brea Mall is, my friend & I rode our bikes there almost every single Saturday for 6 months or more! We even took a back way where we only had to cross Imperial Hwy once!!

Jessica & Josh LOVE this frozen yogurt place! Jessica & Rylie rode their bikes there & took the "back way" behind our houses.

On their way, they ran across this interesting find we assume was from when our homes were being sold. They wanted to bring it home to Jess' room, but they settled on just showing it to us. Cool it's Jason's very favorite candy bar of all time.
Yaa, the end reward!! Stay tuned for some more escapades from my daughter who reminds me a lot of me at this age! I'll explain next post when I was babysitting my 4 younger brothers & sister, got bored, took Dial a Ride to the mall & almost lost my then 2 yr old brother Roy on a bus heading up to another city! Yikes-Jess you can ride to Frugos any day!!

Magic Mountain #2!!

There's a kid ride section that Jess was surpised to see.
This was one of those pics the amusement park takes while you're on the ride.
Love this pic so much! The girls did so great while the rest of us were hanging out at the beach in Santa Barbara. And, they didn't lose my camera, the cell phone or their bags!! They both did the game where the lady has to guess your age, birth month or weight. The lady guessed that Jessica was 17(I recovered from my heart attack), and Riley was 15. Riley is a whole head shorter than Jessica by the way. So the girls thought this was so awesome. Jay & I have a teenager now and we couldn't have asked for a better daughter.

Jessica's 13th Birthday at Magic Mountain

Jessica definitely got the "Thrill Seeker" gene from Jason and absolutely LOVED Six Flags Magic Mountain
Batman was one of her favorite rides.

When I went on the ride "Goliath" a few years back, there is a drop that scared me more than any other roller coaster I've ever been on in my life. Of course when we asked Jess about it, she said "It was totally cool Mom!!"

Sadly for Jess & her great friend Riley from Beehives, "X2" was closed. This is the most intense ride there!

Not quite sure which ride this is, but I know they went on "Terminator Salvation" 3 times in a row! Look for my next post since I'm new at this & not sure how to make more than 6 pics on a post! You can all laugh now-it's OK!!

PUMPKINS!!

This is our very first pumpkin! We were SO EXCITED!! My brother Wayne planted these on our back slope back in March and we weren't expecting much. The soil here in Beaumont This middle one of our three produced our BIG MAMMA we call her!! You can see her in the back hiding. This plant stretches like 15 feet & has 5 more budding pumpkins that we hope will grow & grow!!
This is BIG MOMMA!! To my brother Wayne with the Green Thumb of our family, we have loved watching her evolve! Fun, Fun, Fun!! We are hooked now. Thanks little brother for starting our newest Stevenson Family Tradition!!
